"The Nomad Song"

Sing the song, "My Baby Grand" by Billy Joel and Ray Charles with the following lyrics:

Late at night
When it's dark and cold
I reach out
For someone to hold
When I'm blue
When I'm lonely
She comes through
She's the only one who can
My Nomad
Is all I need

In my time
I've wandered everywhere
Around this world
She would always be there
Any day
Any hour
All it takes
Is the power in my hands
This Nomad's
Been good to me

I've had friends
But they have slipped away
I've had fame
But it doesn't stay
I've made fortunes
Spent them fast enough
As for woman
They don't last with just one man
But my Nomad
Will stand by me

They say that no one's gonna ride this straight and narrow road
They said the weekend jaunts are dead and gone
But only curves like these
Rode with buddies
Keep those memories holding on

I've come far
From the life I've strayed in
I've got scars
From those curves I've rode in
Now I'm home
And I'm weary
In my bones
Every dreary one night stand
But my Nomad
Came home with me

Ever since this ride began
My Nomad's
Been good to me

That's great Trip !

Oh that's going to be a crowd favorite at all the KawaNOW Rally's I'm sure. I can't wait. Do you play the "piana" too? I thought with that "Tom Mix" hat of yours you'd be more the "gitar" type.

Just for those who might not thought of opening another window and going to Youtube and run the video/audio of Charles and Joel and then flip back to the lyrics on your first window. You can change the words and sing along. Have some fun. I'm going to look for the music/chords and get my guitar out and try it out......oh! my Nooomaad!
Thanks Trip!

Great job, Trip! One of my favorites made even better.

Watching and listening to Ray brought a tear to my eye... no one on earth sounds like that. RIP, Ray.

Nothin' like melancholy blues to make the day or ride go slower. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

This song would be best sung by the fire in the evening.

I just downloaded the chord chart for this one...it's a little challenging :-/, but I'll re-tab it to a different key and capo it if necessary. Now, if I can figure out a safe way to carry the guitar on the bike (multiple miles) to a rally next summer than I'll volunteer to accompany Trip. Start warming up those vocal chords!!! ;)
