http://s2.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif I went to a swap meet today and got a great deal on these Screamin' Eagle mufflers! It took a few hours to fabricate the necessary brackets and get it all put together, but now that it's done I'm happy with the new look and sound. What do you guys think?

I think both ways look good! :) Personally, I kinda like the V+H look some better but its what you like that matters the most. Did it quiet things down once changed? My V+H's are getting just to loud and will need to quiet them down as part of my winter work.

billz- I said I got a great deal on the mufflers, but really since the wife was with me it cost a lot more. haha. My accessories actually cost me double on most occasions, when it's a dollar-for-dollar deal with the wife. ::)
Really it sounds about the same now, but now that I have Harley mufflers I can customize tips in the future.

More importantly, how do they sound? Post a sound clip, I want to hear them.

How did you getthem to fit the head pipes and how did you mount the brackets?

'sup Dawg, http://s2.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif I just really wanted to say that.
The V&H system has 1-3/4" dia. head pipes, which seems to be the standard from what I've found. So fitment there was a snap.
For bracketing and support, I used this bit-o-advice from one of Gadget's pages
http://www.gadgetjq.com/muffler_alternatives_for_nomad.htm
My bracket is perfectly flat and only has 4 holes in it. This winter, when I have mine chromed, I might make some more because fitment should be the same for anyone else who wants to try any other style designed for Harley's touring fleet. ?? Oval would have been my ideal http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif

Do they sound louder and lower than the V&H or about the same?

Very nice! I have the Supertrapp SE slip-ons with the Billet Slash tips - same muffler as yours just different tips. It's nice when you can pick between 10 or more different tips to personalize your scooter. I take it you like the sound? Not so raspy is it? I tried the turn downs but managed to scrape the heck out of them first trip out! Guess I shouldn't lean over so much!

Nice job! Probably no other Nomad in the world with those pipes!

So you are just mounting the fabricated bracket to the existing mounts on the pipes then to the nomad mount correct?
Im clueless on this stuff so please be patient with me :)

ANother stupid question. ould you do the same with using the oem stock pipes?

Dawg, you are correct in both posts! With the four holes I noted in a previous post, 2 bolted to the Muffler, and 2 bolted to the mounting holes from our stock pipes.
Theoretically, you can use OEM Harley mufflers if you'd like. Those are VERY VERY cheap. The same swap-meet I bought mine at had stock HD mufflers for $10-$20 per pair!!!! I ended up paying $150 for my Screamin' Eagles.

Nice job! Gives other options than the Cobra's and V&H's. Can you tell us what you've done on your rear lights (including the spot)? If it's on a previous post, I missed it, let me know I'll look for it.

I think that's great! I've always secretely wished for turn-down, or turn-out tips, now I can have something for every season! http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
(I haven't priced any of them yet though . . .)

Toophun, those spots are LED bullets from Kuryakyn, and come on as auxillary brake lights. The rest of the tail and front lights are home made LED boards. I loosely documented those constructions in a couple YouTube videos. Here is one:

Thanks for the info. I was not overly clear in my post regarding stock pipes. What I meant to say is can you use the stock nomad pipes with the HD pipes?

The stock Nomad mufflers aren't slip-on, and don't encourage much customizing other than the always popular debaffling.

Both look good but ( sorry ) I like the before ! I would like to know where you got the crome strips on the bags though?

I did those chrome strips with some chrome decal material from the auto parts store. I bought the 3" wide and cut strips to fit. Since then, I've found a better chrome material at a truck stop. It's much thicker and closer resembles a metal chrome strip.
With these mufflers, I can get tips that look like the V&H if I want. I love the flexability.
