I have noticed a loud buzzing type noise as the rpm rises when I am driving and shifting thru the gears. At first I thought it was the sub windshield vibrating as the rpm's went up but after putting some pressure against the sub windshield it is not that. Could it be the grill against the radiator? I would like to hear what you all think it might be and any possible cures. Thanks.

The rh rear chrome panels between the fender and the bag on mine have a buzzing vibration noise once and awhile when its cool out. I got the same bike as in your picture.

Good to know. Thanks. So far the only irritating noise I hear is in the front. I have had Harleys in the past and the engine was always noisey but I don't think that is the Nomad problem.

Sounds like the same problem that the 1600's have. I have been chasing that rpm viberation all year and haven't found it yet.

its probably in the speedo housing at the front of the tank. i hear it on mine sometimes, but have done nothing about it.

Last friday I made a trip with a demonstration Nomad 1700 from my dealer.
The buzzing noise you hears, comes from the belt and a little from the inside of the gearbox.

I hear some of those noises also on my VN2000, nothing to worry about.

HD offers beltgrease, it's a common problem with all belt driven bikes.

I had my belt adjusted and it makes no noise, also the gearbox to me isnt a buzz at all its more of gear whine, and if you put your finger under the chrome thingy's edge, and pull it a bit and let it go, it makes the same noise I hear. It rubs where the two pieces meet a bit. Now mayby buzz is different than your buzz but Im sure its not the buzz we all like.

I agree with you. My BUZZ is definitely in the front around or below the windshield.

my 2008 has a buzz that comes from the key vibrating, I have to tuck my leather key strap under it to keep it quiet. Reach up and touch you key and see if it stops.

Or you can just remove the key. You can remove the key, after you turn the bike on, and put it in your pocket for safe keeping. After you turn the bike off completely you will need the key to turn it on again. :)
