Feb. 4th, ran to local pack & ship, just before they closed, to send factory drivers seat to http://www.greatdaytoride.com/
I am in Texas he is in Plam City Fl.. Got an email from him on the 7th that he had recieved my seat. Want him to drop an 1in. out of it and add jell. Got home from work yesterday 14th. and UPS had dropped of my seat. Before I shipped the seat I had asked what the lead time was, and he said, usually 24 hrs. but Daytona Bike week he gets busy and about 36 hrs. What service, and I am setting IN the bike and have bend in my legs and I dont even have on my bike boots. The craftsman ship is fantastic. It looks factory but with a better pocket for your butt. Weather is going to keep the test ride from happening this weekend, will update when I get some miles on the new saddle.
And no I did not pay for extra fast shippin.

From their FAQ:
How much does it cost: For a two section seat the riders section comfort mod is $50, lowering at the same time is an additional $10, the passenger section $25. For a one piece seat the riders section comfort mod is $50, one piece seats cannot be lowered enough to charge for, passenger section done at the same time is an additional $15. The "LD" upgrade pricing is based on the amount of Flex Gel used in your model, usually adds $25 to $35 (call or e-mail for quote)

I am looking to upgrade my seat, so I emailed them and will let you know the cost to modify my Nomad.

I pd shipping to and from, and $75.00 for the mod and jell (LD) upgrade. Total cost me $98.00.
and 10 days. Missed two good days weather and one bike nite, I am betting it is worth it.
Last Mustang cost me $475.00., and was only better than stock. Will get some pix this weekend and will let you know how it rides as soon as we get out of the crap weather again.

I'm looking to lower both seats. I held off on the Mustang because of the comments I've heard. This sounds like a deal that I need. Sounds like $120 max. I like it!

Please MJ, tell us how it rides.

I want to hear about this seat also. I'm not thrilled with the one on my 05 and don't want to cough up 500 on a new Mustang unless it has built in massage or something. Why does everything for a metric bike seem to cost twice what it should? Is it that there are more H-D's and it's an economy of scale or are they just cheap?

Come on you know you want to.lol

I bought a Piper seat last season that is a reworked stock seat, you sit a little lower in it. It feels better than the stock seat, but I havn,t seen anything that I can sit on for more than 4-5 hours without stopping to stretch my legs a bit. Piper is a member on the vroc forum and has done quite a few seats for the guys there.

I look forward to the review on this mod as well. Looks like a good deal if it changes the comfort level.

Saw the article in Rider too. And Palm City is 11 miles from me!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I grew up there and just moved here 4 years ago. No shipping for me guys! I'll drop it off!
I don't want it lower; just the gel.

I contacted Piper a week ago and he lost his installer and is probably out of the business, according to him. I was actually going to get one of his seats.

I found a local upholstery shop that said I can ride in tomorrow and he will show me what he can do. Don't know how much or how long but he will customize the entire deal. I will let you know what he does and prices.

Rode over to the shop today and it will cost $130 and will take one day to complete. Have to dismantle the beast on Monday night, work will be done on Wednesday. I won't be able to pick it up until Thursday though due to my schedule...wah!

Metricjunkie, have you had a chance to check out the modified seat? I want to do something with my 05 seat to make it more comfortable. Don't want to go Corbin, had one hated it, or Mustang; had one on the Volusia, better than stock but not worth the $$$ to me. Any update on comfort will be appreciated.

I noticed a sight a while ago that showes you how to modify your own seat. I cant remember where I saw it but it showed detailed instruction on how to take it apart and cut down your own seat. It is put back together using your own existing cover and looked just as good as before. It doesn't seem like that big a job to tackle yourself at all.

No way would I try carving up the foam in my seat. I'd probably make a freaking mess. The only thing I can carve is the Thanksgiving turkey!

For total comfort you can't beat a Russell Day-Long Saddle. About the same cost as a Corbin.

Have not had a lot of seat time on the new modded seat, it is lower. I love that, it is better feeling. I think its worth the cost.
Just to look at it you cant tell anything was done, but drop your butt in it and its way better.
Got a nice ride comming up this Sat. with the bunch out of Grapevine TX. should see how it works then.
