Yesterday I arrived home from work to find a large, much anticipated carton had been left by UPS. Inside were my new Cobra True Duals with billet tips! http://s2.images.proboards.com/shocked.gif

Installation was simple, there's only 2 head pipes, 2 mufflers, and the heat shields. It probably took longer to remove the stock exhaust than it did to install the new pipes. I was glad to finally be rid of the goat belly!

I had to work this morning, so I only had time to go for a short test ride. They give me just the sound I was looking for. Not so obnoxious to disturb the neighbors, but when I twist the throttle, you will hear me coming.

Here's a picture of the pipes installed, before I reattached the saddlebags:

Here's one just before the inaugural ride:

I included this one, because this is all most people ever see of my bike, after I've passed them...

Nice pipes, Got a question for you Cactus. You have the same motorcycle jack from harbor freight as I do. There is supposed to be a slow lowering mode but I can't figure out how to do that. My bike drops down fast!. Any help would be appreciated.

It does come down pretty quick, just use very light pressure with your foot. That's what I do.

Nice looking pipes. How do they exhaust to the left side without the goat bladder?

The rear head pipe crosses under the swingarm to the left side.

I have the same jack, and yes there is a slow mode on this jack that was why I bought it. I found it by accident, I lost my balance while letting down my bike, and leaned forward and pushed the foot release all the way down. I thought me and the bike were done, but the bike sloowwwly went down.

Pust the foot relese all the way down and it will go down slowly.

Beautiful pipes by they way.

Great looking pipes - those are my choice if I ever change over from stock. I like the billet look at the end of the pipes the best. They really do look great on your bike. I think those pipes are about the only ones that offer the billet look like you have - correct? I like the looks of your air filters. What kind are they?

The air cleaners (both sides) are K&N PN:60-1320, which are 7"x2" filter elements with a chrome housing. They are mounted on Chuckster's 7" backing plates. The left side is a dummy, for looks only.

Here's the left (non-functional) side:
http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc218/slhanks4/7in%20filter/IMG_1473_RSZ_004.jpg

And the right side:
http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc218/slhanks4/7in%20filter/IMG_1400_RSZ_009.jpg

If you are wondering why I have a dummy filter on the left, it's to cover the crossover tube, which is no longer used. I do not want to remove it because currently Maricopa County AZ is the only county in the nation which has mandatory emission testing for motorcycles. The removal process is destructive and I do not want to remove the crossover tube in case I might have to someday restore the intake to the way it came from the factory. There is a good chance the emission testing may no longer be required, and I may remove the tube when that becomes a reality.

Looks great Cj. Keep that chrome clean and bright, more so on any days you get rain.

I didn't know there was any slow mode either.... I will go check that out.

Step down hard and fast huh?

The first time I let that lift down with my bike on it it was right now fast! ....

Since then I heel toe it to a shudder..

This morning I rode the bike to the grocery store to grab a couple of things. As I was pulling forward out of my driveway, I hear a blood curdling S-C-R-A-P-E as the rear wheel rolled into the gutter. It drug the bottom of the right side billet tip. I guess I have to be careful from now on and pull straight out of driveways before beginning my turn. This wasn't a problem with previous pipes/bikes.

So now I have a nice rough area on the underside of the right tip and a matching mark on my driveway. :-[ :-[ :-[

I have the same scrape beneath my right Valkyrie tip. Funny how the right tail pipe will scrape and the left floorboard will scrape before the tail pipe??? It won't be the last time Scott, I promise.

At some point in time I might change my pipes from my V&H. Those Cobra's look nice, but of course, we would have to remove the baffles. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

Looks really good CJ. I am sure they sound just right.

Regarding the scrapes on the pipes... at least now if someone notices the scrape they'll know that the bike gets ridden.

I like the looks of a bike that shows it has been ridden. Each scrape; scratch, and bug-gut tells a story that cannot be experienced by sitting in a garage! ;)

Contact Joe Norris (aka Chuckster1) at chuckster1_31@comcast.net. He's a member here and a good guy to deal with.

He makes odds and ends for Nomads including handlebar risers, trailer hitches, cam chain extenders, larger lowers, and probably other things I don't know about.

I like the graphic on the back fender http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

I have the same jack and it tells you in the directions to step real quick, all the way down on the pedal to lower the bike slow.
Do you guys read directions ??? ;)

Sounds great CJ. I have a Panasonic Lumix also and didn't know it recorded audio.

I have a much more expensive Canon digital camera that does video in addition to taking great photos, but it's large and I wanted something I could stick in the pocket of my vest or leather jacket to keep at the ready to take pics when riding. I bought the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ8 just before Custer and I used it for 90% of the photos I took on that trip. I had never used the video function until now. Before I bought the Lumix I missed out on a lot of photo opportunities because I didn't have a camera handy since I kept the Canon in my tourpak.

Mine is a Lumix DMC-FZ50. It's big and bulky like the Canon you described. I had it at Custer and used it for all of the pictures I took. There are so many features on it that I would have to read the manual quite often just to remember what it is capable of.

The scrapes are a badge of honor, shows that you ride it feast on asphalt. Not keep it in the garage and bring it out for cleaning.
