Any input as to what to look for or avoid while shoping for one would be greatly appreciated. Not wanting to start a battle royal, but pros and cons between the FI and Carbs, 1500 verses 1600 would be again appreciated.

Do you have a particular model year you're interested in? The later models, I believe 2003 and later are all FI. The 1600 has more power and, in my opinion, is a bit easier to maintain due to the fuel injection.
What features are you looking for in one?

Probably one like yours with a Fag Magnet and vibrating butt plug???

Looking forward to not having valve adjustments anymore. Had a FI Boulevard and lean towards the FI, but some good deals on older models out there too. Just wondering if there are any known issues with any years models that I should be aware of while looking. Thanks for your response. Dave

I have only had the 1600 FI version and only about 1800 miles on it so far. I can't think any reason that you should avoid that fine bike.

Yup, the 1999 year had the best colors, but had the plastic oil gear.
I'd either figure the price of replacing it into your offer, or stay away from the 99's.

As for the Nomad, POG is in only in the 1999 year model.
Ma Kawi has been very good about warranting it if you shut it down as soon as he oil light comes on.
For reliability it would be better to replace it with a JOG (Judges Oil Gear) before it fails. I you use the JOG you do not have to split the case to install.

Thanks for all the replies. The POG is the kind of stuff I'm wanting to get the lowdown on. Notice 2000 started a carb and FI mix. Curious as to how that works?

I would get as new a model as I could afford, they are all good solid bikes with no built in problems, other than the oil gear on the 99s which is an easy repair with the JOG. Every year they come out with some very minor changes that do improve the bike. When I was looking, I decided it had to be an 02 or newer, because I wanted the larger fuel tank and FI. In 06 I think they changed the steering rake on the forks slightly to improve low speed handling, If you check the specs on the different model years you will see these improvements and will then be able to choose one that has some features that are important to you. A few weeks ago a stock 06 with 18,000 miles sold for $6300.00. Good luck Hunting!!!

I'd love to find a deal like that 06, but I'm looking at a 2000 this weekend that I could buy outright with no loan and it has a lot of extras already. Can always step up later. Thanks for the input everyone.

beautiful bike for sure
misunderstood, I think what they mean about the 2000 model year is that some were built with carb, then they switched to FI.
