View Full Version : Finally took delivery of our new Nomad today!

The dealer is 60 miles away, so I had a nice ride bringing her home, and a chance to get acclimated. All I can say is "WOW!" I only wish I hadn't waited so long. This Nomad is far more motorcycle than I had imagined! Smooth, quiet, powerful enough for my needs, has extremely good handling, very stable, and the perfect "Interstate Eater." Like going from a Jeep to a Cadillac! I LOVE THIS BIKE!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember bringing my first one home 9 years ago. My son, who was 10 at the time, and I kept going out to the garage for another look.

Was a fun night. Enjoy.

Congrats on the new Nomad.
I love the phrase "Interstate Eater". It is very fitting. We use ours to gobble up two-lane back roads as often as we can.

Stories like that always bring a tear to my eye. I will be driving 87.5 miles to plunk down $400 more to put my baby on layaway today. Maybe they'll let me ride her round the parking lot? I may be able to get that 2000 Nomad and keep my 2000 Valkyrie too!

Been riding 40+ years and bought my first Nomad last March. Best thing I ever did (motorcycle wise). Only got 9500+ miles on it right now and it has proven to be the best bike I have ever ridden, and trust me in the past 40+ I have ridden and owned plenty of other bikes. Have fun with it and ride safe.

Congrats Smokey! Which color did you get. Now it is time to BLING is out.

I wanted the red and silver, which was only available on '07 models, so I located a new-in-the-crate '07 a couple of hours away from the dealer, and he picked it up for me. So far, I've added Kuryakyn Iso-Grips and Iso-Pegs, a Kuryakyn Gran Traveler bag, a luggage rack, K&N air filter, Throttle Boss, saddlebag racks and inserts, and Edmonds lowers. These lowers are amazing! ZERO buffeting for me and my passenger at 75mph!
The throttle lock I had on my Intruder will not fit on these grips, so I need to come up with an alternative. I rotated the handlebars upwards about one and a half inches, but may still have to get some two-inch, pullback risers. Time will let me know that.
Also, have already talked with Lonnie about possibly getting one of his backrests, as my back was ruined years ago. Time and miles will let me know if I need one or not.

Congrats Smokey.

Hate to admit it, but I haven't mastered pic posting. :'(

Hey Smokey, I too went from a Vol to a red/silver 07 Nomad and have never regretted it. Very nice ride. And everyone knows that the red/silver is the best color combo. Great choice.

Everyone knows that the red/silver is the best color combo right after BLACK. Great choice.

Don't let these guys mess with you Smokey... you made the right choice... they can't help it if they're boring...and don't have any creativity to get any other color than the standard black!!!!! LOL Good choice all the way around and trust me... black, red, blue, green...we'll all agree that the Nomad is one Hell of a Bike and Fun to Ride!!!

Lets see some photo as soon as you figure it out. FAQ page tells how.
Proud to learn you are Cajun, My Great-Grandfather was Cajun and was captured during the " War of northern aggression" in Tennessee, never got back home so "Here I am"

Said the same thing when I got my new Mad to the house. DAMN I LOVE THAT BIKE! And say it after every ride. Reminds me of the feeling the first scoot ride back in the 60tz. Planning a road trip this spring, like a kid waiting for Christmas.
That red is hot but Blue and Silver aint no slouch.
Smile on Smokey.
