OK! First off, trying to find a campground within reasonable distance to a hotel is not that easy. I mean... hotel locations are selected for convenience and campground locations are selected to be away from everything.
As mentioned in another thread The Days Inn and The Walnuthills Campground seem to be the best.
So, the Days Inn on Whitehill Rd, Staunton, Va has the best room rates. Reg rates are $79 per night, group rates are $55 per night. They seem to have all of the amenities with Belgium waffles for breakfast. Sheila and I rode by there and the room that we looked at was clean and no odors and the staff was very friendly. This hotel is kinda secluded. There's a couple of gas station/stores close by but the nearest restaurant is about 5 miles away. Nice privacy for an evening cold-one and socializing.
If you want convenience of hotel/restaurants, the rates are around $90 per night and no social privacy. And it's about 12 miles from the campground.
The Walnuthills Campground ( recently KOA certified) is 3.6 miles from the Days Inn. It's a nice campground with tent sites at $28 per night with additional tent for $16.50. With W/E it's $32 per night. Didn't check camper site prices "CoachA". They also have cabins for $35 per night (1dbl bed, 2 bunks, fridge, and A/C). They have cottages for $73 per night(1 dbl bed, 1 bunk, a futon, bathroom w/ shower, micro, fridge, stove top, table, a/c, tv w/vcr/dvd)
Let me know if there's anything else I can do.
