First I have heard about it. Is it a HD rally or open to all? I am about ready for a trip since I have been stressed out for 4 months just getting a house deal put thru. Finally signed the papers today and now it's time to start moving.

Another good site to check is letsride.com - good info and the hotel rates through them are less expensive.

King, I checked letsride.com and nothing came up. Did you mean lets-ride.com?

Yes, it's lets-ride.com - you can click on the map of the US, then click on the map of Texas and a listing of all events in Texas will show up.
I'll definitely be making a couple of runs to Galveston for the Lone Star. Fortunately I will be off work the whole thing.

Wish I could; gotta work. Last year was fun the short time I was there.

Some of my riding buddies and I are going down on Friday. We're taking 69 through Tyler and Lufkin down to Beaumont, then 124 down to 87 and ride along the coast to Port Bolivar and take the ferry across to Galveston Island. Should be a fun ride. If any of you guys want to join us you are more than welcome.

Don't be surprised if you have a 2-3 hour wait to get on the ferry. When I was there last year we took the ferry from Galveston to Port Bolivar, and when we exited the ferry there was a line of bikes at least 2 miles long waiting to cross over to Galveston.
I heard tell that folks who came in from the west end of the island (san luis pass bridge) had clear sailing. Of course that was just one report for one time of day during the entire event. Your actual mileage may vary.

Yup; made it in easy. Wasn't that many bikes coming in from that direction. That was on Saturday morning.

I'd love to go....but not sure yet if I can. I'll have to see when it gets closer.

There is a 100% chance that I will show my face down there at some point. Usually on Friday morning or Sunday aftternoon once all the drunks stumble out of town.
