Based largely on the comments posted in this forum, I decided to put on Dunlop E IIIs to replace OE stones. I went 150/80 up front and 160/80 in back with Dynabeads. The ride home from the dealer seemed to be smoother, although it's still too early to develop a complete sense of how the tires will perform.
Interestingly, the service department told me that this was the first time they put E IIIs on a Nomad. Most Nomad owners go with whatever they have in stock (read Bridgestones). I guess they're not Kawanow members. Too bad for them.
Many thanks to those who posted comments about your tire experiences.

mark: Hope you enjoy yours as much as Im enjoying my Cobras. Are yours both radials as the Cobras?

How much did the Elite's set you back? Doc, how much were your Cobra's? So far the stock Bridgestones have been fine for my bike but then again I only have 3300 miles on it.

Gene: To be honest the stoners suck. My Cobras I got for $337 for the pr. Another $18 an axle to install/balance. there is NO comparsion between the stoners and the Cobras/ Thats all I can honestly say since i have never had Elites.

I went with bias ply E IIIs since the original stones were bias. I rode some more today and noticed a slight vibration above 40 mph. Since I'm using Dynabeads, it shouldn't be a balance issue. I'll keep an eye on it.

im running an elite 3 on the back of my Nomad and so far it has done great. Run well in rain and seems to be lasting. i have 5000 mile on it and still looks like it will last a long time

i went with the same size elite 3's but used the standard method
to balance.no vibration or front end wobble and the bike handles
much better.i have about 1200 miles so far and i am very pleased.

I've put over 5,000 miles on a pair of Elite III Radials. It doesn;t even ride or handle like the same bike. I bought mine from Southwest Moto Tires for about $300, free shipping. They are awesome tires, not showing any wear at all yet. 150/80 up front 180/70 rear.

I went with the Elite III on my front tire this time. So far (about 1500 miles), I like it a lot.
5000Kmi on my pair of E IIIs bias. Rides fantastic, traditional balancing. Wear hardly noticeable but haven't measured it. Just noticed that the E IIIs are a good match for me. Ells

I have the E III on the front of mine and it made a major diference in ride and handling over the stock Stones.

I've used Elite II's and liked them a lot so I would think the Elite III's would work well also. My last set of tires was the Avon Cobras and liked them a lot as well. I went to the darkside with a CT on the rear after 15,000 miles on it and have a couple of thousand miles left on the front tire and will replace with a Cobra in the front when it's time.
Again, I don't think anyone will go wrong with either tire.
