I just bought an 08 Nomad and love it. The only problem I've encountered is with the windshield. I'm 6'6" and once I hit 60 mph my head starts getting knocked around pretty good. I've got the shield at it's highest setting.
Any tips on fixing the shield, lowers, etc I've got or finding the right height replacement shield would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

King: Welcome to the forum. Try Clearview.com They make diff height shields for our bikes as well as other add on's. A few guys have ordered and love them. I made larger lowers as most guys have to help a little(still will have some head buffeting though). I have not been able to eliminate it 100% even with shield up, lower lowers, and airlite engine chaps. Good Luck

Larger lowers, engine guard covers, and a fork bag will eliminate the buffeting. We both look over our shields and get no buffeting because we have all 3 on the Nads. The buffeting is caused by the wind coming under the headlight bucket, hits the front of the tank, and is deflected up under you helmet duckbill. We tried the larger lowers and the engine guard covers first and still had a problem; once we added the fork bag, the buffeting disappeared.

Cycle cat: how big a fork bag did you attach directly to the two chromed fork covers? thats the only thing missing on mine. Thx

Where's Ponch? One of the biggest guys I've ever met. He may be able to help you.

Another vote for the Clearview. Get the 23.5" with recurve. I'm 6'6" like you and it's done wonders for the buffeting. Single best thing I've done on the Nomad.

In the meantime, you can try this: Take out the TOP bolts on the windshield bracket and tilt the windshield vertical until the inside edge of the bracket is OUTSIDE the bolt holes. Put the bolts back in, then tilt he windshield back until it touches the bolts, then tighten them down snug. This will move the air pocket a little higher and direct more air around you vs over the top of the shield where it'll hit your helmet. The Clearview will be your best option eventually, but hopefully this idea will help.

I'm 6'4 and got a clearview, solved most of the problems----recurve is the thing also, for cooling, don't forget the vent. I got the tallest one and have it set down a little so the tallest would probably be pretty good for you.

On mine if I put my hand over the space forward/between my knee and the tank the buffeting stops. I use oversized lowers that I made myself and put on an airlite engine chap and i have next to no buffeting anymore but my bike is a different design as well. Very smooth airflow even at 100mph. There is a bit of an increase in wind noise with the chaps on, but at normal road speeds, it is not noticible, just above 80mph.
