I need to do a thorough cleaning of my windshield and have a question. Can you take the bolts loose on front and take the Vulcan panel off and then take the windshield off? I need to clean between the two panels of the windshield and see no other way of doing it. Thanks for any help you can offer.

That's the only way of doing it. Beware! There are 2 different bolt lengths used. Make sure you put the longer bolts back in the right place.

Thanks again, CJ. I thought that was what you had to do. On the link you sent me for darkside, if you noticed there are no places in Alabama that will do this. I would have to go to Florida, Georgia or Tennessee.

Believe this or not but the guy that installs tires for the Kaw dealer here told me the other day that he has installed a few CT on several bikes now.

Maybe as the wave of darkness spreads dealers will be more apt to do this for us.

Either that or find someone in AL that will do it. That list is compiled from information provided from other darksiders. If you find someone in AL that will do it, add their info to the list.

Or go to harbor freight and buy your own tire changer set for about $150.00 and a no mar bar for another $100.00 and dyna beads to balance and for about $250.00 or so you can change your own tires.

If you try some independent tire shops I bet you will find one that will do it if you bring the wheel and tire to them. Might have to sign a waiver releasing them from liability.

I need to clean between the two panels of the windshield and see no other way of doing it.

I took mine apart and left the small one off. Makes it MUCH easier to clean the main windshield.

And be careful pulling them apart. The gasket sticks.

Took mine off as well and if I remember right, had to add small nylon spacer to take up the space.

And when loosening everything up, be careful not to let the small, "mini" windshield rub against the main portion of the shield. All that accumulated dirt between these two pieces makes for a nice sandpaper effect if your not careful. http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif

I did the same, had to get a couple of the shorter screws, but I think it looks better and it is much easier come cleaning time.

Thanks for all the advice. I haven't taken it apart yet but will have to before long. I may just buy all that equipment to change tires. Then you guys could come to my house and pay me to change your tires.
