Not sure what all of your wive's let you guys get by with in the house (pertaining to motorcycle repairs, that is!) but I was tired of working in the 105+ degree temps in the garage, so I moved my Scootworks trunk project indoors.
Note vacuum cleaner close at hand for quick cleanup.
My wife is on vacation in Russia for a couple weeks- I probably wouldn't get by with this otherwise.
Sorry for horrible photo clarity- taken with camera phone.

I hear ya, guys. I don't think anyone can make a bigger mess quicker in a house than I can. At least that's what I keep hearing!!!
I'm trying to add a trunk to the back, the infamous Audiovox cruise, spotlights, and a few other goodies. I have about six projects going at the same time and none of them are really completed, but it sure looks industrious in the garage.
It looks like a disaster is what it looks like!

i could probably get away with what you are doing in the house. Cindy is pretty easy going.
Now if I were to spray paint something in the house that would be grounds or divorce

I remember a buddy of mine who rebuilt a muncie 4-speed in his kitchen when his wife was gone for a couple of days. Boy did he catch hell when she got home.
You're just drilling holes, not dumping oil or anything - should clean up just fine and the Mrs. will be none the wiser. Added bonus: you can watch Judge Judy while you're working on it.

My take ont he dog is that extra treats from you for silence and then rat you out to your wife for extra treats.
Watch out, that dog is going to be really p*** off when he finds out it's not a new dog house for him your working on. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

Ive done stuff like that myself a few times when the wife is away. A few years ago it was a really cold day in the winter and I was working on a snowmobile. My hands were stinging from handling the cold metal on the motor. Once I got the motor out of the chassis I brought it in to the kitchen as well. Of course I covered the table with lots of newspapers and used rags to keep things clean. When I was done you never would have known I was there except for the smell of a bit of oil, and silicone for a couple hours.
Another time I had to replace a bearing in my ATV transmission so I had the bearing in the freezer to cool down, and I put the casing in the oven to expand so I could install the new bearing. I don't think Id be here right now if she had of caught me doing that.

Well this is a good step to take back what you were born with, that is being a MAN! http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
The next move you should do is buy a few tomahawks with loose handles of course. These come in handy to use the toliet bowl for swelling the wood and so tightening the heads.
You only soak one at a time and only when needed.
Once you have laid claim to the bathroom and won that battle you will be the man you were intended to be.
This is a painting project and that tank is hanging in the shower on a tuna fishing swivel. So this advice is coming from experience

Before we built the garage we used to drive the snowmobiles into the porch to work on them in the winter. We also used to work on the Virago's in the porch and we made a ramp to drive them up onto the covered deck in the front of the house instead of parking them in the carport. I didn't mind the mess because one of everything has always been mine and it's usually my stuff that breaks down. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

You are one brave man - but agree that 105 degrees does require a new work shop and sounds like you did it exactly at the right time. Good luck in your project and looking forward to seeing the finished product - and the others are right - watch out for the dog....

Billz, That is the Longaberger Basket Company office headquarters in Ohio. It is near Frazysburg on Route 16. We stopped there on our 10 day trip last month. It is more impressive in person.
Mac, you have a very understanding wife http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

Brian- The trunk is made by Scootworks. I'll have it painted red and black to match my '08. I was going to take it into the paint shop today, but I've decided I need to fit a little more chrome on the trunk first- and I'd rather get all the hole drilling done before the new paint.
TopCat- Guess I just assumed that was a hotel... definitely interesting.

Rut roh Shaggy. The dog is going to rat you out.
I have never done anything like that but twice I remodeled rooms while the wife was out of town for 4 or 5 days. Now that my friends, will make them smile when they come back...provided you have done it like they would want them.

LOL, She knows that a home is not a showcase, that curtains don't have to match and that if she wants to go riding, it can't be done on a cherry coffee table.
I make horrible messes in any room that gets the job done every day.
I wear rags most anytime I am working. Why not? I use a chain saw often, cut steel with torches, get covered in crap, from rust to powdered glass.
My latest project is rebuilding to like new, maybe, err, probably better than new a big belt sander 82" tall that grinds medical glass.
This stuff looks like white rocks of calcium, but is silica dust combined with clorine and water.
If there is a messey thing I am found in the middle of it, and I stay cleaner than the average guy but to a point.
My wife knows this and has for since before we got us hitched! http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
I make trade silver in the bed room.... Sometimes she gets a few items of this stuff to wear too.
http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll275/Mac_Muz/silverwork/2444.jpg
I got tools everywhere. In the barn (mechanics) in the cellar and the barn (modern wood working) In the cellar 18th and 19th century wood working tools) 3 sewwing machines (one is for boot making and is belt driven by a persons foot) One she has in the guest room and the last one is all mine in the bed room.
My leather tools are in the bed room, along with my sailors sewwing kit for making sails, and rigging for sailing boats.
The silver tooling I made most of is in here too..
In my world a man is made of the tools he has....
I don't have tools for everything but almost I do...
I bet I am the only guy here with a 70 pound anvil in the bed room and a 65 pound swivel vise.
I got 2 more bigger anvils too one in the barn and the other with wood working tools in the cellar.
I am so far ahead of what a wife can do about messes she gave up that idea a long long time ago...

haha Billz, you and I seem to have it made!
The airfare back to the mother land is too expensive to make just a weekend trip. My wife just spent 5 wks back in Ukraine and I had both my saddle bags on the kitchen counter replacing the stripes with chrome. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif lol. What they'll never know. haha.
