Installed a luggage rack on the bike today and tried putting my bag on it. The straps are to short to come around the backrest cushion. I tried a couple other bads as well. All were to short.

Does anyone know where I can find extensions for the straps?

Just use bungee cords. I have a black "tombstone" bag I set on the back rack and use black bungee cords. It looks pretty good and I've never had anything slip off. BnG

I agree with Dave--bungee cords work great. You could try a basic web strap--found at most camping supply stores---great for securing any type of bag.

I had the same problem with my Nelson Rigg and Willie & Max (now manufactured by Dowco under the Iron Rider brand name) luggage. I called and both manufacturers sent me the strap extensions, Nelson Rigg at a reasonable cost and Dowco for free. Contact the manufacturer of your luggage and see if they have them. If not, I believe that the extensions from either Nelson Rigg or Dowco would likely work. If you have any trouble finding their contact numbers, I can provide those.

+1 paul, if buckles are the same size as the bags, you can just clip in and they become extensions. Can trim them to fit your needs.

I'm having an extension for the backrest fabricated so the straps on a new bag will fit. Will post pics when available. Hadan earlier solution for an older bag that had five different attachment options, none of which worked on the Nomad, but managed to cinch strap the sucker on so it looked good and wouldn't go anywhere. I guess none of the bag manufactures ever considered such a comfortable back rest.

Thanks for the info guys. Will check out Nelson Rigg and Dow Co and see what they offer. I agree I dont think they gave any thought to a comfortable rest like the nomad.
Thanks guys

If you are looking for velcro straps, I found some 23" straps at Lowe's. They come in a pack of three and were only about $3.50. I used all three together (side by side) and it worked for me. Might be worth a look.

Try a good camping store. I've purchased several buckles and straps to replace or extend straps on backpacks and compression bags.
