I need some advice/help. Now that I have my backrest I notice that my riding position has changed and I would like new risers. I am looking for something with a little pullback.
I saw something on ebay but the title says nomad and the description says 900 classic so I am not planning on buying them but I like the look and I am hoping some one can tell me where else I might find something similar.

First I would like o point out most of us only raise our bars 4" tops. This allows us to not have to put new cables and hoses on the bike.
You can find risers similar at Dennis Kirk or J&P Cycles.

So if I find something I like how do I know if it will fit. what size, other than 1" bars do I need to know?

think I found a set I like but I don't know about the mounting bolts.
What size are they on the nomad? One would think that it is kind of a standard size right?

The stock bolts holding the handlebar on are 8mm x 65mm. The 65 is the length.
If you were to remove the top clamps on the risers holding the handlebar and lift the handlebar off the risers you would then see the head of the bolts recessed in the risers. A nut underneath the triple tree holds the risers in place. You won't be able to use these with most aftermarket risers.
The risers on the Dennis Kirk website you reference attach differently. They will use a 1/2 bolt inserted from the bottom of the triple tree and will thread directly into the bottom of the risers.
I think the Phat II risers also bolt on the same way. Quite a few here have the Phat II risers and love them.

thanks bob, that is what I thought about the phatII risers also. In which case I should be able to get just about whatever I want.

Just be carefull, some riser will hit the chrome speedo/ignition cover on your tank on the 1600s.

OP;
Besides Chuckster's risers; the only other one I am aware of is the PhatII risers. I had them and loved the extra pull-back they provided since I am short.
The PhatII's have two sets of mounting holes to accomodate the offset needed to prevent them from hitting the speedo cowling. Be careful mounting them so you don't scratch your triple-tree's brushed finish.
Good luck.

hhhhmmm, I have chuckster's now. Just wanted a little more pullback. Didn't really want to have to spend $150 to get it. I like the look of the smooth curve on some of them. I suppose I will just go with Phat.
I wonder, I have chuckster's 2.5" now. Do you suppose if I went with a 3" or a 3.5" it would still fit with stock cables and would it give me the pullback I want? Do you suppose he would swap me for the set I have now for a small fee?

OP, I had Chucksters 2.5 and he swaped with me for the 3.5. Just had to pay a little more, no big deal.
I kept the same cables even with the 3.5 risers.
That being said, it still wasn't as much pullback as I wanted.
I went with Phat 2's. They come with two holes for different amounts of pullback. I used the hole which gave me the most pullback. They touch my speedo bezil very slightly at full lock but haven't put any marks on it.

do you remember how much difference in pullback between the 2.5 and 3.5 from chuckster? I am not looking for very much. Right now if I put my hands on the end of the grips, by the chrome caps, I am pretty good.

I went with the Chucksters and love them. Like the looks and feel. Gave me the pullback I needed. 5' 10" short arms and now comfy.

I wouldn't spend the money on the PhatII unless you absolutely need the fancy look of them. Chuckster's 2.5" should give you the pullback that you need, and they are made to fit just right. Plus, I like the look of the stock risers, so with Chuckster's you are able to keep the stock, just adding height from underneath the stock risers. For what he charges, you can't beat the deal IMO.

Brian I actually have the 2.5 now and want a little more.

OP; While I don't entirely disagree with Brian (Chuckster makes the best product for value); personally for me, I needed the extra inch that PhatII's gave me over his longest version -- otherwise I would have bought Chuckster's. Without the extra pullback of PhatII's it would not have been worth it for me to make any changes. Keep in mind that I am short (5'6" with short arms).

Really, you need more than the 2.5"? How tall are you. I am 5'10", and measuring what I needed, the extra 2 inches would be plenty. I guess it's all a matter of personal preferece. Some people like the feeling of having the bars really close, and some like them far away (look at all thos Ape Hangers out there).

glwilson....
FYI ~
Chuckster can make the risers whatever hight you want, all you have to do is ask him to. I am sure he charges a little more if he has to use extra meterials, but still, they wouldn't cost nearly what the PHAT II risers cost.

I added a backrest and it gives me a more relaxed riding position and I find that my arms are little straighter than before and by the time I need gas my shoulders are getting a litte tired. The height is good I am just looking to get a bit more pullback to bring the grips slightly closer. I thought with the angle of the riser from the tree if I went with a 1" taller chuckster riser I might be able to turn the bars down enough to get what I need. If not I am thinking of a set of aeromachs. I like the smooth curve better than the phats

GL - I too am somewhat challenged in the height department. How do you like the Phatt II. That is what I was thinking of getting - however I do like the looks of the stock risers. Do the Phatt II give quite a different look? Some one here said you could use the Chucksters underneath the stock risers I was not aware of that. How does that work? What amount of pull back will you get with that combination and can you still use your stock cables?
