So there I was-- seats off, stock horn removed, tank raised to run wires, installing my Stebel. I knew the horn and compressor were going to occupy the same location as the stock horn.
What I didn't know was where I was going to put the relay. My left side cover is quite a rat's nest--tach, CB, TFI, auxillary fuse box. I guess I could cram one more thing in there, but I really didn't want to.
Then, I remembered something. I dimly recalled reading someone's comment about empty space under the left side air cover (dog bowl) being a candidate for sticking stuff.
I HAD just performed an air mod that rendered the stock filter irrelevant. AND, since I didn't yet know what I was going to do with the left side, I had re-installed the dog bowl assembly as a placeholder until I could make up my mind.
With the kind of tingly feeling that Chris Matthews gets for Barack Obama, I removed the cover for a survey.
Christmas doesn't get any better! The plastic backing is a big open flat area that begs for relay-type devices to be securely screwed fastened onto it.
So I did. Thank you to my mysterious suggester.
The Stebel certainly is a noisy fellow, isn't it? Is there really anyone that didn't test it in the garage? That would be like someone who never revs their engine going through a small tunnel.
