I changed the oil in my '08 Nomad today at 2,413 miles. Used Amsoil 10W-40 for the crankcase. I read the bottle of Amsoil and missed the GL5 requirement for the rear case oil. Was about to use the 10W-40 in the rear case until I read what Yellow Jacket had said in the formum and he also sent me an email telling me not to use it there. Some of the other guys in the forum warned me also. The Amsoil bottle stated it could be used for bikes requiring 80W-90 but I missed the statement about the GL5 requirement. That is my own fault. I used Wal-Marts brand of 75W-140 full synthetic. Anyone ever use the Wal-Mart brand?Anyway thanks guys for helping me out. From my post about getting picture of my bike on, I never did figure out what to do to resize the pictures. Trip was nice enough to take care of that for me.

I have been running the Super Tech 75-90 synthetic lube oil in our bikes for years and am pleased with it. Just be careful not to overfill as the synthetic is so slick it will easily leak past the seals.

It doesn't hurt to ask questions if your not sure of something, its a lot easier to do it right instead of repairing any damage that may be caused.
Its good that Bob was paying attention in that posting.

So our manual recommends 90W oil for the rear, how come you went with 140?
