When Ken and I went out riding early evening I was leading and coming up to a four-way stop. I stopped and noted a vehicle almost at the stop sign to my right. I waited to make sure he was going to stop. He was in a silver corvette. He was looking at me grinning...he slowed to almost a stop....I started easing on the throttle when I noticed he wasn't stopping kept on coming past his stop sign....looking at me, grinning as he turned right. As I came up behind him I just pointed to his car in front of me and shook my head.

I don't know I thought maybe he was goofy- hubie thinks he was just bullying his way since I was on an m/c. Whatever....got watch'em. ::)

Probably a balding, middle aged man about 5'3" who got pushed around in school. But he's 6'5" and bullet proof behind the wheel.

Got to be on guard for both. He probably was consumed with wondering how cool you thought he was in his chariot.

Sometimes children in these sports cars think that they come first and everyone else is second. "I'm turning, wait for me."

Makes me want some "window beaters" hanging off my handlebars sometimes. That or some heavy ball bearing to toss at him before turning off the highway!

I blew a loogie in the window of some jerk that laughed at me as he pinched me out of my lane at a stoplight. Stupid idea but I damn I felt good!

If you had just beat him, he might have been thinking that being on the right, and if he had stopped fully, he would have had the right of way. But he didn't want to do a full stop, which made you stop first, and he rolled on by.

Faulty logic on his part if that was it, don't know what the grinning was.

I live in a high end shopping district in Denver. There are two streets full of high end shops, and 4 way stops all the way through it on every block (maybe 6-8 blocks long). Because traffic only gets up to 10-20mph, I do the rolling stop if there is no other car immediately there. If another car is nearly there, I fully stop just to make it clear who has the right of way.

The guy in your situation might play with a different play book, and in his book if he would have stopped and been on the right, he can just roll through and still have the right of way... especially if the other one is a motorcycle.

I have noticed that most people can't do a four way stop worth sh*t.

I will give guys like the right of way when I'm on the bike , but I will push my weight around and make them wait when I'm in my truck.

Being a motorcycle rider means you have to be a very highly defensive driver. It was good that you kept your eye on him, Nancy. There's no telling what he would have done.

Being a motorcycle rider and a Corvette driver, I can tell you that he's probably wrapped up in himself and his ride. There are those that think they are invincible in their ride. He was no exception.

As a sidenote, I've owned and driven my corvette for the last 6 months now. One thing I have noticed is that there are those on the road that feel they have to prove themselves to a corvette. Many times I witness drivers doing all they can just to pass me. I guess it makes their POS vehicle worth something? Stupid, but true.

Yesterday, I had a guy in a 1976 Chevrolet Impala following behind me on my way home. He decided to hit the accelerator, pass me and jump in front of me. I had to slam on my brakes to avoid hitting him. He did all this as we were passing a cop. The cop came out with his lights on and stopped him.

There is justice in the world....sometimes.

+1 to what Dan said. Evidence of that is down here after a hurricane, or any storm, state law says intersections with traffic lights that aren't functioning, automatically become 4 way stops. It is amazing how many people not only don't know the intersection becomes a 4 way stop, but they don"t know what to do when they get there ! In your case, I agree with CJ, the guy in the Vette is invincible, and has the right of way in all situations just because he is in a Vette. What a jerk! All you can do is watch 'em like a hawk.

He was being a jerk. People like that p*** me off. I have to remember that I'm at a serious disadvantage on the bike. I do have a bit of road-rage; when I'm disrespected.

Who really knows what he was thinking or doing. Just be glad you arrived home safe.

Old thread I know, but my point is not everywhere in the USA has 4 way stops. If the guy had in state tags I guess he would know what a 4 way stop is.

The first time I saw one I had no idea how to deal with it, and made messes the first few times till I got the idea..

And then there just are those types of people who do stupid stuff because they can.

On a bike there isn't much you can do to force a bigger rig to do anything.

Reading this thread the word Moron comes to mind describing this driver. Of course this type of individual would have done the same thing to you if you were in a car. They seem to think that they always have the right of way . Viagra didn't work for him so he had to buy a flashy high powered car. DJ
