How do I get these images to show up? Otherwise just follow the link. Looks like about what I have, very happy with it but there may be a hard trunk in my future.

I had to cut and paste the address to see it, but to get it to show up in your message, go into PB, click on "Share" for your photo and then copy the "IMG for bulletin boards" string and paste it into your message, it will already include the [img][-img] stuff

River Road is the Mfg. Found the bag at a local shop, and then got it on ebay for $88 with shipping. Only inexpensive one that I could find that was pleather, and would fit the 1600 backrest.

Nice! Is that a Cobra rack? I have one, and am still looking for a bag that fits well and doesn't interfere with the passenger backrest too much.

Looks good. I've been looking at one similar to that. Is it ridged or will a top roll bag crush it or make it sag?

I love the bad I have, but it will not go around the backrest. I have to bungee the hell out of it.

Jasper: I saw those bags in a local store and it ended up being my second choice, but seeing it on the bike I DO like the way it looks!

Looks good. I've been looking at one similar to that. Is it ridged or will a top roll bag crush it or make it sag? It is rigid, and I'm certain that sleeping bag would be fine on top. Not sure just how much additional weight it could support, but I'd feel comfortabel with 4-5+ lbs.

Yes, it's a good bag. I've had one for years, got it for my '99 Nomad and hung on to it even when I had a Goldwing and a Venture, both with trunks of course. Now I'm back on an 09 1700 and as soon as I can find a luggage rack for it I'll get my River Road bag back on. Was in my local Kaw dealer this week and they had this bag for $139, glad to know it can be found for less on the web. They also had a River Road duffel bag with attachments on the bottom for the top straps on the big bag to go through. This must mean that it will hold "some" weight on top. I'll probably try that as well.
