This came out pretty so so. I need a way to zoom in and still be steady. I was zoomed too far out to try to keep it looking steady, and consequently everyone is tiny in the video :(

Here it is anyway.

Hey, despite your complaints... it was a cool video.

Having been at the tail-end of that ride... I happen to know how cool it was to see 38 Nomads cruising the SD and Wyoming roads to Devil's Tower...

...as well as noting how you were riding with your left hand crossed over to the throttle; while your right hand held the camera!

Good job Dan.

(PS: Kendra said to tell you... good 80's style music Dan!)

Have to check it out when I get home. It was interesting to see how long we were when I was riding up front and looking in the mirror. My general thought was where is the end of this line????

I added some still shots at the beginning to give a mental picture of what the other shots looked like if you could see the whole line out in the distance.

If you look at the timer on that shot at the beginning where all the bikes file past, that line takes a long time to go past :)

One regret is that in the last shot of the video, my camera card filled up and stopped before the whole line of bikes got out :(

Great job Dan. That was really cool. My biggest problem would be keeping the shiny side up with my hands crossed.

Glad I'm tiny in the video, because the camera would have added an extra 40 to my svelte frame.

In case anyone tries to do the left hand throttle, right hand film... It probably isn't a good idea to do it ;)

If you do what comes naturally, you will go the opposite of where you want to go. When the Oh sh*t moment happens, you will probably go even further the wrong direction trying to correct it.

It's like the people in the panic who hit the gas instead of the brake in a car, they just push the gas even harder trying to stop it. Trying to rectify the turning the wrong direction will make you try even harder the wrong direction. So it's probably not wise to try it.

I like the challenge of operating mechanical conveyances, so when the need came to cross hands over I tried it. I didn't crash, but it takes a certain amount of getting used to things being opposite. Just a warning in case anyone feels the need to break out the camera and film.

Tell Kendra that the Canadians should know that song better than us... just a hint :)

What kind of camera did you use?

It's just a Canon point and shoot, a Power shot A530. It's about 4 years old, so has been replaced with newer models in the lineup. There are a lot cheaper cameras that out perform it now. glwilson had what seemed to be a really good inexpensive one.

cool! but I guess to really appreciated it you would of had to be there.

I think you are probably right :)
