I checked out the 2008 KLR today. Loved the bike but it's not for me. I'm just to vertically challenged for it. Sitting on the bike, it was all I could do to get one toe on the ground.
I looked at the VStrom 650 and I can plant my feet on the ground with it.

You sure hit the nail on the head Dano, I'd needed a step ladder to get on that monster. I had a 86 KLR 600 before they went to a electric start. It was a great bike

Same here... checked one out.... 33" - 35" seat hight is challenging... I think they do have a lowering kit.

The only one that fit me right was a 250... lol

Shut up BD.

Get serious and check out a Ducati Multistrada!!!

You can slam the KLR's down way low! But, even when you sit on it your feet don't touch the ground? Man I'm only 5'6" and I touch both feet? Maybe you need to eat your Wheaties in the mornin and bulk up! Just kidding! There are around 3 - 4 different lowering links for the rear shock assembly - 1" , 2", 3" and I think + 2" also the front forks can be slid up about 1 - 2"

I've heard you can get about 250 in there from BD. Also, have you considered thinking tall so you can fit on a real bike?
