I know it was talked about and it is a long way off,,but gives me something to do while its still friggin raining :(.. Everyday for the most part since I hit NY and rain all next week,,, :( :(
I see the South East group is looking at http://www.nationalparkreservations.com/shenandoah_bigmeadows.htm
in June.. That is the time frame of my old group that goes to www.naturalbridgeva.com (http://www.naturalbridgeva.com) each June
So for me this looks like a GREAT ride as I can do both if the dates are good :).. Where else are you all thinking???
CANADA is a MUST SOON IMO..... Rich

That sounds good as well. I think a member on the Sabre site lives in that area ... I ask him for info and maybe meet up :)

I'm in Michigan and cruise Lake Erie all the time, and it isn't really all that great, very flat, no turns, etc. I would really like the Chesapeake Bay cruise. Going down through Ohio you get a lot of straightaways, then lots of curvy turns in PA, and then in MD the roads are smooth and also have some good turns. I know several great crab shacks on the bay for meeting spots/meal meetings, etc.

I spend a lot of time on the lake, great fishing but not so good riding except for some cool small towns around the lake (Conneaut comes to mind). That said, I am still looking at doing a loop around the lake perhaps next year if not sooner.

If in PA, the middle of the state has a lot better riding than the West side does, near State College is great riding!

My 2c :)

Any thoughts on what date next years rally will be?
Summer of course is peak season so prices are....not to cheap. Since there are no volunteers from that area to be the second ARL that means its up to TC and I. We are checking the motels and most either don't have the prices for the next year and/or don't book more then a year in advance. After labor day the prices drop considerably but most people have their vacation during the summer.
And with a cheap motel you just might be bringing some unwanted guests along home http://s2.images.proboards.com/shocked.gif
The floor is still open for suggestions :) but the area does have a lot of motels and eating places within walking distance.

I'm in!! http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

I'm new, but I'm enthusiastic!! Course, I'm young compared to most of you fogies.... *ducks

Just kidding!!

At any rate- I'd be way interested in attending. I see you decided Lake George- has a date been determined yet? Long as I know couple months ahead of time, I'm good to go!

Oh- my old man rides a 900 classic (he's little, give him a break, haha)- are such blasphemers welcome at said events?

Yes you can bring the 900 rider, we are a friendly and understanding group, most of the time http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

I hail from Western New York. I'm almost smack in the middle of Rochester and Niagara Falls, a little to the north and west. Lake George is probably in the vicinity of 5-6 hours from me.
The little 900 guy likes to dish it out, so don't give him any room to get ahead ;) Friendly and understanding are well enough, but don't take it too far! He is pretty jealous of my nomad though... http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

Has anyone looked at the Prospect Mountain Hwy in Lake George area, it looks like a miniature Dragon! Looks like it dead ends at some points though. I bet it would be a sweet cruise. Looks like a lot of nice riding in that area. Going to be a long haul for me to get there though, but I am sure some of the others in Michigan will join me in the ride out there.

Can't wait.

I don't know if this is what you are refering to but there is a road to the top of Prospect Mountain. It stops at the top and you retrace the road back down. I have ridden it and the views are pretty nice.

Here's a pic I took from an outlook about half way up the mountain.

I took this by putting my camera on the lens of one of those binocular things you put a quarter in. http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd308/topcat63/P6050018.jpg

The guys I ride with at times from another group that live close to Lake George like the ride to Lake Placid from Lake George. I think it's about a 2 hour run through the Adirondacks. (maybe on Route 9).

I didn't see a thing on their website to indicate they had camping or cabins.
I did see they give no rates so that tends to make me believe they are expensive.
Just my opinion.

There is a Super 8 motel in Warrensburg, NY. Warrensburg is five miles north of the village of Lake George. The Super 8 is @ Exit 35 on I-87; the Northway.

If you don't mind staying in in a room with 3 or 4 guys you could really save some $s even if it means rooming with Radco http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
You could go into town and get sh*t-faced and come home on the trolley.
I e-mailed them for some info.

They say they have a picnic area, if they have a BBQ we could use, that would great for a dinner one night. Nobody would have to drive anywhere, we could stay put and celebrate. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

OK, This is the story, everything sounds good to go with a majority rules vote.
1. everything is paved, no frigin stones for Beezer
2. trolley to town
3. 3 picnic tables with 3 grills
4. IF! rates go up for next year it will only be 2 or 3 dollars
5. Group discount, he said he can do 10% for the time of year
(7/29/2010 - 8/1/2010)
6. he will need to know how many people / rooms by the
beginning of January.
7. here is their website again.
http://www.francove.com/index.html
8. her is the short cut to room & rates
http://www.francove.com/rates.html
9. Personally, I fell good about it. And that come from a
skeptical me.
