View Full Version : Buffeting???....What Buffeting???

Hi Gang!!
Here is a really interesting post from a VTX forum. There are several interesting posts on the thread so I included the link to the thread.

I had a MS Fats 21" shield on my '03S before I put on a WideOpenCustom fairing and had a lot of buffeting. I then put lowers on and it helped a little, but not much. I contacted MS and after talking with them, they sent me some windshield edging called Saeng. It is a plastic/rubber type of edging that is grooved to fit down on the edge of the windshield. It is different from the laminar lip. The edging did force the wind upwards over the full face helmet and the buffeting nearly disappeared--no more head bob, bad vision, or sore neck. I do not have the website for Saeng any more, but they do have a site. The MS people were great to work with and they were the ones who sent the stuff to me. I may put some on my fairing windshield as I get some buffeting with now, but had less with the windshield and edging.

At $13/foot it may be just as cheap to get one of the clearview shields with the recurve built in.

For my Nomad, the clearview windshields are $211.

The Nomad will buffet your head around like crazy at high speed. larger lowers help a tad. But just get used to it, its not aero-dynamic.

Run without your windshield, then put it back on, you will wonder what head buffeting you were worried about.

My windshield's all the way up, lower windshield all the way down and larger lowers and I have almost no buffeting at all. Only crosswinds. And it also helps wearing a half-helmet. The Nomad is almost a perfect bike.
