I know this goes without saying, but watch your speed. I just got off the phone with MarkG and he said he got pulled over just after entering Wyoming from Colorado. He said he was rolling along pretty good at about 90 indicated on the speedometer, and he saw a highway patrol car sitting in the median. He was clocked at 81 (10% speedo error) and got off with a warning. The cop picked him up on radar over a mile away.

I can see how this might happen to him, because in AZ they give you 10 MPH over the limit before they bother with you (in most cases). So here, you can do up to about 85 in a posted 75 MPH zone and not really have to worry.

Please, ride safe as you make your way to Custer (or wherever you're going) and don't push your luck.

South Dakota is usually pretty easy on motorcycles for speed because most of them ride and know that almost all bikes have speedo error. If slight speeding is your only violation they usually don't even bother to stop you.

Up here, 5 over will generally get you pulled over. Same for Nebraska.

in wyoming the highway patrol is particularly agressive on speeding.they will pull you over but quite often will let you
go with a warning.keep your speed reasonable and do not
split lanes.interstates in wyoming are 75 m.p.h. and most
secondary roads are posted at 65m.p.h.

Safe riding and be careful one and all. Watch for the crazy cagers and wildlife on the roads, especially the wildlife as you get further north. One more day of work for us and we pull out on Saturday morning. We're a little safer since we're on the way with the truck and toy hauler.

Will be good to meet everyone and a sight to see that many Nomads in one place at one time.

Take care all. I'll be pulling out at ~ 07:00 tomorrow. Larry, I'll see you down the road. Everybody ride safely.

Will be looking for you at the intersection of I-20 and 19. I think I remember you estimated arriving in Canton between 1400 & 1500 hours but I've slept since then. The googleye in the sky shows Exxon, & Texaco at that corner with a BK and a Whataburger on the westbound side of I-20. If my eyes weren't deceiving me there is a Chevron on the eastbound side.

I'll be up in the morning, so give me a shout before y'all hit the road. I had a less than restful nite at work tonight, so I'll be napping while Frances drags Lucille on the trailer to the meet spot.

Ride Safe,

Larry

One of the last to leave, I meet up with the Denver northbound group tomorrow at 8A. Packed and ready to roll. From the blog reports I've been reading, the rally has already started for those a few days on the road already. Almost feel like I'm being left out but that will change real soon.

Loaded up the bike this afternoon. Hauled it to work so I don't have to worry about muddy roads for 1.5 miles. Throw my shaving kit in the bag and head to work at 6 tomorrow morning and then hit the road by 6:30. Meet up with Todd and crew at Bridgeport and then it is 170 miles to Custer. Take care everyone.
