I tried search with no luck,, Several members here purchased a CLEARVIEW or Rifle after market Windshield
I do not want to put the mini shield back in,does it work w/o it?
Also I will mount the new shield close to the headlight.. I now look way over the stock shield.. I am 6ft 3.. How tall is the stock shield? What size after market should I get? I do want to look over the shield....... THANKs Rich

Hey Rich, I'm 6'4 and the stock shield was just too short for me. I bought the Clearview out of their "gee, it's got a 1/2" scratch", so save $75 pile. The model number is a GT23. I want to say right around $200 delivered. The flaw when I got it was hard to find, they want to make sure everything is right. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
I got the 2.5" over stock, the vent and the recurve. My headaches are gone from the buffeting, and I now have adjustments I can make without just being able to go down. It did take a while to adjust, every other windshield I ever had was just "put it as high as you can".
I did put the mini shield back it, but I don't think you need to. I have a windshield bag below the vent and it would block all the air that comes in over the headlight, so your question is a tough on for me to answer.
I still look over the shield, I have a little more than an 1" that I can take it higher. I think the recurve is the real help. Hope this helps you.

Ill order afetr the FingerLakes ride,, I just bought a new Rain suit,, wasnt planning on it ,went to the store with a bud to get his wife saddlebags,, I got the Rain suit LOL...Rich

Rish, UI have the clearview with the recurve at the top no vent. If you are waiting to order after the Finger Lakes you can check my shield out there.
If you don't put the sub shield in you will need to use some kind of spacers.

Hey Rich, Had an AutoCAD dealership for 10 years and took care of all training and support. Margins went south and so did I----now teaching high school for the last 11 years and still doing AutoCAD along with Revit (architecture) and Inventor (solid modeling). I lease software from Autodesk for the school and it has a license manager that sits on our server. PM me and I can tell you where to get software reasonable.
The vent doesn't look bad, but I hear they can get lose with time. It hasn't been hot enough here to need it yet so time will tell.

The stock shield is 21". I bought the 23.5" with recurve. I am 6'6" and I needed all the height I could get. I can look over the shield if I sit up straight, and I have it at the tallest setting on the brackets.
The recurve is a really nice feature. It does, in fact, direct the airflow a couple inches higher over the top of the shield. So you can get away with a shorter shield and still get the airflow protection. They're also 2" wider than stock, which along with the upper recurve keep the wind away from the sides of the helmet. It also helps in colder weather to keep the wind off the knuckles.
I did not put the subshield in. The kit I had comes with spacers that allows this.
The best thing I can think of to determine what height shield would work for you is this:
Measure out a spot 50' in front of your bike and mark it.
Sit on the bike with a tape measure or yardstick and measure from the top of the headlight until the tape measure crosses your line-of-sight to the mark you made earlier. Take off 1/2" and that's your minimum windshield height - meaning windshield height at it's lowest setting in the brackets.
You can also just set your stock shield down as low as you can and measure up to the mark 50' away. That'd give you the maximum height you'd want to buy.

I know you can get all of Autodesk's software products off their web site for 30 days for free, then it stops working.

Got the Rifle, it is thicker than the standard screen, will work without the sub-screen. They also offer venting, tinting and recurve. Very quick delivery too. Trev

Refugio, if you can find a blem in the size and style you want you can save about $100. I got mine from a clearview dealer on ebay and it was a blem. I would have been hard pressed to find the 1/4" scratch if they hadn't pointed it out to me.

I have the clearview 22.5" with recurve and vent. I an 6' and it is just right for me in the lowest position. The vent is wonderful. If you open the vent, it cuts out almost all of the buffeting. I don't know what the deal is, but letting air in behind the shield makes for a nice calm air pocket. I run it wide open all the time. I would highly recommend the vent. I did not put in the subshield since I have the windshield in the lowest position and did not need to fill in around the headlight. Even at the lowest possible position the 22.5" is taller than the stock at middle setting.

Ref, I got mine shield at Cool Cycle in Cool Texas. Good folks there. The wait was too long through the website and they hooked me up with Cool. Good product; I like the recurve.
