We just returned home from an outing at Middendorf's Restaurant with a group of 27. It's located on I-55 at Pass Manchac south of Hammond, LA. Great food and service if anyone heads down this way from Mississippi. There was a Red & Black Nomad there that I just had to walk over to admire it. You all may have seen this before but I haven't. The owner had relocated both of the helmet locks from the rear bars to the bottom bolt holes on the license plate frame. Both helmets were locked and hanging neatly near the bottom of the rear fender. Pretty smart, I think. I've never seen them there before but I don't see many Nomads down here. Didn't get to meet the riders and the bike was gone when I left. I wanted to tell them about KawaNOW but didn't get a chance.

Utah, they are just screwed in. I moved mine to the bottom bolts on the reflectors next to the license plate. Works well for me. There was a thread about this and maybe someone will remember where it was and post it.

I put mine on either sides of the Cobra luggage rack. Used screws with locknuts to prevent them from vibrating off. They blend in nicely with the chrome too. I don't have to bend down to secure the helmets when I need too either. ;) Also no drilling required. http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif

I use a couple of pad locks thru the rear supports of my cobra rack. I think that the supplied locks are in a poor location and could be broken with a large screw driver.

I very seldom lock my helmet, hang it off the hwy-peg and were good to go. If it's raining I take it inside with me.

Same here, except I throw mine over the drivers backrest. I suppose I would lock it if the locaks were more conveniently located.

Here's another alternative for helmet lock relocation to the front lowers.
All you need is longer stainless bolt and nyloc nut.

The top pic is what I saw Scoot. I hadn't seen this on Gadjet's site.

Did the same thing except mine are on the bottom bolt of the lowers.

Following the lead of another forum member I relocated mine to the rear of my Wompus rack.

Moved mine to the top hole of the lowers, like DK's pic. Also added bullet driving lights to the bottom hole on the lowers, which makes it a little tight for helmets but still works. Bullet lights get pretty hot so need to be careful attaching the helmet, maybe not the smartest solution.

I relocated mine to the license plate frame like method 1 of Gadget's site, but wanted them a little higher, so I move them to the back of the backrest like method 2. Seems to work better for me, whenever I choose to use it. I did cut (dremel) the little tits off of them so they would line up better and fit flush with the chrome bar on the backrest.

Got mine mounted to the top hole like DK's. Works out nicely. ;)

I relocated mine to the top of the brake fluid/clutch reservoirs. Easy to get to and keeps the helmets from banging into anything on the body.

I saw the Gadget setup of relocating to the license plate and changed it a little. I got a metal frame, drilled a hole in it for the pin, and used the top screw holes to attach it.

Any of these ideas are better than the stock location.

Ain't it the truth! All these locations are better than Kaw's

I will be moving mine too. When I put a helmet on the left side, it is about 1/4 of an inch from touching the ground. On the right side it wants to rest on the exhaust. Too close for my comfort.

After reading this thread, I decided to relocate mine. I used the luggage rack supporting brackets. I drilled 1/4" hole and used a locking washer. I used the opening angle to anchor the lock pin. Beats the hell outa the OEM location.

The right side handle grip and frt. brake leaver works for me. Or in the trunk or saddlebags if I need the bucket locked. Or take it with me.

Haven't taken the lock off yet but it appears that there is also something else on the back of the lock besides the bolt? A pin maybe? How did you deal with that when mounting on the lowers? Also do you remember what length the replacement bolt has to be to mount on lowers?

If you mount it straight across, like my pic shows, the pin is not a problem. If you want it as some other pics show, you'll probably have to cut/grind off the pin.
Not entirely sure of the thread size of the bolt I used, but believe is 10/32. Suggest whatever size, use a nyloc nut.
