I bought a set of Avon Cobras at 8000 miles for 2007 Kawasaki Nomad 1600 and I am currently at 14000 miles. I felt these where very good tires when I first got them. I have 6000 miles on the tires and you can see a cupping or flat spot on the back tire. I always ride double up and both my wife and are are not small people. I check the air pressure and keep it at 42 pounds. I now swear I feel a difference in the tires in the hard turns. Should I replace the tires? If so what tires do you recommend. I am not sure if I want to stay with the Avon Cobras. Note: They are not worn, just the cupping.
Thanks

I would give the Cobra's another try using 2oz of dynabeads per tire.
I would also recommend increasing air pressure when 2-up.

A lot of tires will cup as they wear down near the last bit of tread, Growling during corners is also normal on a lot of brands. As long as they arn't causing a lot of vibration or wobble use up the remaining tread and replace them when worn.

does anyone have a picture of a cupped tire? i assume this means the tire edges are higher than the center of the tire??

It would be very hard to see in a picture, but if you run your hand over the tread portion of the tire you will feel very obvious high and low spots around the tire, this is the cupping. A good tire is smooth all the way around.

TM,
Run 46 - 50 lbs of air in your back tire and 44 in the front. Recommended by a factory rep.
