Just got back from the International Motorcycle Show in Atlanta. It was snowing when we got there and it was snowing when we left. Looked at a 2008 Nomad with just about everything they could put on it, including the $710 radio. Sticker price was
$15,793.50. Anyone interested in the dealer sheet can email me and I'll send you a copy and a poor picture of the bike. Yes it was nice and NO I didn't buy one.

You got that right... I was all hyped up when they came out with the Vulcan 2000. Went and test drove one... came right on back to my 1500 Nomad. Same deal... pay extra money for what? Ive already got the best riding bike I have ever owned ! ! !

How and where do they have the radio mounted, oldbiker.

The radio controls are mounted in front of the left grip, very simular to the Goldwing. The one thing I didn't see was SPEAKERS. I asked a guy standing around where they were and and didn't know. He had a Kawasaki shirt on and told me that the tech. guy was delayed due to the snow. My opinion was the add ons were very expensive. The tach was $310. I think a careful shopper that has some mechcanical ability could do it much cheaper.

I bought a tach for $60 on ebay and will put it on the bike myself as soon as this SNOW GOES AWAY!!!!!!!!!

flash, it's just a cheapy from Tiwan, called Custom Chrome. I figured for $60 to my door I would give it a try. The face is 2 1/2" across and it is approx. 3" deep.

One thing I read about the optional radio set up .....it's xm just like on new vehicles...you get 6 months free and then have to pay the monthly fee if you want to keep it. :-/

I agree with Doc. My 05 still fits the bill and the price we paid 3 yrs ago was great.
Closing in on 16K is out of my price range.

Just curious...Has anyone on this forum purchased the 2008 yet? I know that several of us have the 2007 model. I think that the bottom line version (with the exception of paint scheme) really hasn't been changed since 2005. It's kind of like the ole' saying, "If it ain't broke...don't fix it."

As far as accessories go, I would have liked to have had the luggage rack, and auxiliary head lights as part of the factory package. I personally think that, if they change it to a factory fairing vs windshield and add things such as a factory radio and other Gold Wing style accessories, then it should be given a different model name. In fact, they should engineer a different frame and power plant too.

There are several personalized features we can add to our Nomads and the bottom line is that it is still a Nomad.

I would hope that if the price were to increase the, value of good used Nomads would follow suit. Not that it matters a lot, I'm keeping mine for a long, long, time.

Haven't ridden a motorcycle for years. Got the itch on vacation last September. After looking at all the various brands, it became obvious that the Nomad was the choice. I bought the 08 red/black Nomad for Christmas. The dealership tossed in the saddlebag inserts and a jacket as part of the deal. A little over $14k out the door. Thanks to everyone on this site, amongst others, I knew exactly what to expect. I am not disappointed. The 08 pretty much has all the same clunks, etc. that the other Nomads experience. With the riding I have done so far, it appears to handle the same as the earlier models, too. In regards to the radio, the electronics take up half of the left saddlebag. Definitely not for me. I never listen to the radio in the cage, I see no reason to listen to it on the Nomad. I decided that I wanted room in the bags and didn't buy the option. My purpose is to go out and relax and get away for a while. Everyone that looks at the Nomad thinks I had it customized. Telling people that it is stock out of box gets some disbelieving looks. So far I have 900 miles on it and have enjoyed every minute. I am looking forward to warmer weather to do some traveling. Hopefully I will meet several of you on the road. As a new member this is my first post. Once again, I would like to thank all of you for the useful information. The only change I have made was moving the windshield up a notch because of my height. I have had no problems with the Nomad.

Welcome to Kawanow Markg. That was interesting info onthe radio taking up saddlebag space. I would not like that either.

Welcome guys...it's good to have you around.

That is interesting about the loss of saddlebag room. There are so many better aftermarket options out there.

NOW...we all expect to see that Pennsylvania '08 Nomad in Elkins WV at the Eastern Rally.
