On a recent ride, we had a guy join us that rides a beautiful black Nomad! I always find it interesting to see the different styles people use to customize their Nomads (or any other bike)

He added a trunk to his, as well as, other neat bling, but the thing I found most interesting, was the tool bag he added OUTSIDE the windshield in the front! It's the first time I have seen that. Hubby has been trying to find a leather bag of some sort to fit inside his windshield, maybe this would work for him too
(Is he a member here? I didn't ask him)

There are 4 or 5 Nomads in this area that I run across quite frequently.

Have they set their bikes up differently than you? Do you ever get ideas from seeing others?

I like to look at other Nomads, see what other like-minded people have done with theirs, share ideas...that sort of thing. Likewise, I like to show off my bike and talk about what I've done to it.

Last Wednesday there were two Nomads two cars in front of me at a stoplight, and you never see another Nomad in my neck of the woods. Anyway, one turned into a subdivision and the other kept going so I swung into the subdivision to chat with the guy. He had no idea who the other Nomad was. I told him about this site but so far, he hasn't shown up yet. Hope he does.

For sure. I love to see what they have done with their bikes. That is one of my favorite things about the forum as well. You have access to thousand of different Nomad pictures.

http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gifThe only problem with windshield bags on the Nomad is that you have to redrill most of them for 2 holes. The other promblem is the amount of curve in the windshield (did I say only...anyhow) but I saw a great solution on another Nomad the other day. Replace the 2 standard windscreen bolts with with 2 that are long enough so that when the newly drilled bag is mounted there is no curve in it. http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif

I saw one at Ruby Tuesday's in Muscle Shoals, Alabama last Wednesday afternoon. It was an '02 in a gold/tan color. He had the Premeaux fairing and a HD Tourpak. All painted the same color. It looked really good. He was riding with a guy on a '08 Pearl White HD Ultra. They came from Virginia and were riding down to Jacksonville, FL for the Memorial Day Weekend. Both of them came over and talked to my wife and I as we were leaving. Both were first class guys. The guy with the Nomad really admired my hitch. I told him about Joe (Chuckster) building the hitches and about KawaNOW. He said he would definitely look into the site. Maybe another member soon.

I've seen Nomads on three different occasions recently, but didn't get up-close and personal with any of them though. Those bags sure are distinct and may not have noticed otherwise. Not sure but might miss an '09 if I were to cross paths with one on the road.

I just saw the pictures cause they don't show when I'm being bad at work and KawaNOWin. I would never have thought to put a bag on the outside of the windscreeen. I like the rack on your hubbys saddlebags with the 3 bars better than the other guys. http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif

Went to my first Southern Cruiser Bike Night in Vicksburg Tuesday night at a restaurant. About 25 bikes there and two black Nomads pulled up, an older Voyager that still looked new and 4 or 5 Vulcans (not sure if they were 900s or bigger from where I was). Good to know that not everybody owns a Harley. Jamie

Hey CheriAnn,
I'm not sure what "hubby" wants the windshield bag for, but has he thought of cutting the straps off an old "fanny pak" or "man purse". They were popular a few years back. That's what I used. and bolted it on with two of the windscreen bolts. Great for Sun glasses, keys, etc..

What a great idea!!! Thanks!
He wants quick and easy access to sunglasses too. Plus, when we quit smoking a few years ago, we got addicted to chewing gum!!! http://s2.images.proboards.com/shocked.gif So I keep gum in my windshield bag for easy access, and he'd like to do that too.

Speaking of windshield bags, I bought a Fox creek Leather small soft tool bag. It fits behind the screen and below The handle bar clamps. It cant go anywhere. I carry all kinds of stuff in it, and I leave on the bike. It works really good. The leather is top quality. Fox creek makes excellent leather products.http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww100/ChiefMkc/P5250166.jpg

Saw four Nomads in the last two days. Two yesterday while out riding at the same stop light in Londonderry NH on rte 102 at rte 128, not together. Today I talked to a guy with a black 07 and a beautiful fairing and stereo and two seconds later a green and silver 1600, Both in Plaistow NH.
Not usual up here. Yeah, I also saw about 600 Harleys.

I went on a ride today with my buddy who rides a 2004 Volusia. We stopped at the Buckboard City Cafe in Superior for breakfast. We parked our bikes among the other bikes (popular biker place) and I turned around and saw a red/gold 1700 Nomad. I pointed it out to Bill and he had never seen one before. He started taking pictures of it.

Later, about 30 miles up the road in Claypool, we ran into the same Nomad again at a Chevron station. They must have headed north towards Salt River Canyon, because we went south and never saw it again.

I thought the red/gold color scheme looked nice.

Not such a good idea with fringe on the bag. The fringe looks long enough to rub on the windshield, the chrome brackets, and the headlight bucket. The fringe will eventually rub the chrome off the brackets and bucket and will dull the windshield. Without the fringe, it would work fine.
