I have a slow leak in my front tire. I lose about 6 pounds of pressure a day. I've visually checked for embedded nails, tacks, etc., but no such luck.
I changed the core valve hoping that was the problem, but no such luck.
Is there any way short of pulling the wheel off and sticking it in a big bucket of water for finding (stopping) this annoyance?

You can try a spray bottle with soapy water, it should bubble around the leak. I'm not sure if you need a spray bottle, just a good soaking of soapy water.

You might find it by spraying soapy water on the tire around the rim, at the vavle stem and then around the tread. Do small areas at a time and watch for air bubbles.
As a last resort you could add Slime to the tire.

Slime is a short term fix not a long term solution. Its corrosive to the mags. Could add the other sealant for tires that is safe for the mags. I forget the name at the moment but Im sure somebody remembers it.
And it's not saw palmetto. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

A couple tire changes ago, a dealer gouged up the bead surfaces on both my rims. I now change my own tires but they will leak if I take no action. (water with a little dish soap in it works well). The first time it happened I broke the beads and with my finger applied a thin coat of ultra gray silicone to the bead surface of the rim, or you could just put it on the tire bead. Now when I put on a new tire I apply it before I set the bead. No more slow leaks.

Six lbs a day is to much to be losing, follow some of the above posts and get it fixed soon. It should be easy to find if its leaking down that amount. I have found that most times slow leaks get worse over time, not better.

I was losing about 5lbs a day. I rolled the bike as my daughter found a nail in the middle of the tire. I was just a small silver dot on the tire.
