Check out the link below and tell me what you think. Looks like a deal for the money. What do you think and is this all I would have to have to play my iPod through this system?
Thanks

I haven't seen this particular variation, but a year ago, I helped one of my buddies install an amp (no radio) with similar speakers on his 1500 Classic. He's still happy with it, although he says it's worthless above 60 MPH. He can't hear the speakers above that. He just plugs an iPod into it. So take that for what it's worth.

refugio has a similar looking setup. Not sure if it is the same but you might ask him what his is and how well it works.

Why Not just get the 250 watt for $120.?

Here is a youtube video of a guys setup of this very same stereo system. I didn't realize until it was pointed out that they do offer a 250 watt system for $120 but it does not come with a remote but you can order a remote for $10. I will probably go with the 100 watt system and save the $40. Check it out. Thanks

I bought the same one you linked to, and have gotten the speakers installed and purchased a windshield bag to put the radio/amp in and hide the wire tails. Next off day I will be putting power to it. The vendor shipped quickly and the unit was as described. I'll let you know how it sounds/performs.
As donguer noted, the same vendor has a 250w unit available for a few dollars more if you are concerned about 100w sounds getting "gone with the wind"

Guys, I'm not a power tech but, and I'm not looking to start a debate but as a guide to help you decide on power, the easiest way to figure power for speakers is watts divided by the number of speakers.
So essentially a 100 watt system is giving you 50 watts per speaker on this system.
Also there is RMS versus peak watts.

Thanks for the link. I ordered the 100W one today. I should have it up and running next week just in time for a Memorial day trip. I'll let you all know what I think.

We do have an expert member here if he pipes in with regards to RMS increase vs. db increase and it's not what most people think. A 100 watt amp is not 10x's louder than a 10 watt amp, it's not even anywhere close to being twice as loud. http://s2.images.proboards.com/tongue.gif ::)
I have the $52 set on my bike from the same people, no radio option; I use my ipod. They got used today, had to ride about 40 minutes to an appointment. Is it a great system, not hardly, will it keep up with a faring mounted unit---nope, I don't use it everytime, ear plugs still sound better. This systems does give my ears a break from ear plugs on a long days ride. I use isolation plugs and they tend to irritate your ears after a couple hours of wear. Anyway, at 70 mph +, I can hear them, there is no bass what so ever, I can still hear the bike and the wind. I think you get a little more than what you pay for with these. They get you by when you want something simple, cheap, and you don't want lots of crap on your bars.

I have the same setup as refugio. I really like mine and have not had trouble with hearing it at highway speeds. It's from Motorcycle Tunes. I plug in my Ipod and off I go. I plan to get a Sirius radio at some point to plug into it.

http://s2.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif I went and bought the 250 system with the remote. I'll let you know how it works. Although I may take a bit of time to mount it.
I can do electricity but it is a bit like the Psychiatirst changing a light bulb. It has to want to be changed and it takes a very long time.
I bought the black system rather than the chrome system. I think it will look better than just tacking chrome on wherever I can. But that is just me.

I ordered the 100 watt system today. I figured I would save the extra $40 on the cost of the 250 watt system for now. If I don't think the 100 watt does a good enough job I will put it on Ebay and order the 250 watt. "Peterdarby" do let us know what you think about the 250 system when you get it installed. Thanks

I got this same setup from motorcycletunes.com I think it's a supposed 200 watt system. I just hooked it up this weekend and tested it in the garage. It is plenty loud but no bass. If you crank it up you can feel plenty of bass in the bars. I'm thinking of drilling a 5/16" hole or so to create a bass port on the bottom of the chrome light bowl on each speaker.
Anyone else tried to remedy this situation?

Got my system in today. Did you all connect straight to the battery. If not where and how do I find it. I want to hear it so right now I am going straight to the battery. Really don't want to leave it there because I am afraid it will get left on and run down the battery.
I bought the same outfit in black because of my black nomad. YOu will need to buy the clamps that hold the speakers to the handlebars and one to hold the radio. Another $100 for those.
It works ok and then I bought a Sansa MP3 player to hook up to it so you can listen to music without having to change radio stations as you drive. Go to this link to see my pictures of the radio on the bike. I hooked the power to the extra power leads in the headlight.

I did mine a little different. I have my amp connected to a relay for my driving lights in the headlight bucket, and the relay is fired from the running lights; that way I know when the bike is off, the amp is off too. The little amp is in the headlight and speakers are mounted like nomadderdadder using clamps on the handlebars to hold the speakers but I didn't spend much on the clamps from JC Whitneys.
The clamps I bought for the speakers were about $15 each. The one for the radio was about $70. Never thought about putting the radio in the headlight.

This system does sound awesome. I mounted the amp behind the locking side cover right sbove the tool bag compartment. It is well hide, weatherproof and behind the locked cover where no one can steal it. I am going to mount the speakers to the windshield and use the brackets that came with it. That way I spend no extra money. When I get it completed I will try to post some pics. Thanks

I had seen these speakers mounted to the windshield but not with these brackets. The brackets that come with it are made to mount under the mirrors so that is where I mounted mine. Went riding with the wife for a little while today and she could also hear the stereo fine. Well pleased.

I got mine sometime this weekend. Last night I mounted the speakers on the mirror posts. I think I like it that way since I will eventually put a power outlet and GPS platform on the handlebars. I have to make a windshield bag for the amp and my Ipod so I haven't hooked anything to power. But so far I like the looks of the speakers. I think it will really look good when I get the brown sheepskin seat cover on with a matching windshield bag and Portmanteau for trips. When it begins to look more like my bike and less like the off the floor Nomad I will post some pictures.

I did drill a hole in the bottom of my windshield bag and ran my auxillary cable up inside of it for my iPod. Works great and that way I didn't have to buy a mounting bracket for my iPod.

Kawahog. That is my plan. Hopefully when done it will be hard to tell that there is anything electronic in the bag. And by the way, thanks for the post on the mirror mounts. They look nice and save you the money you would have to spend on handlebar mounting hardware.
Did you guys have to drill out the hole in the speaker bracket to put it under the mirrors? Do you have any pictures of the final mounting?

Pics would be great
I jsut came home and drilled out the brackets and mounted them to the mirrors. Hopefully that will make it easier to be heard at 75mph. Couldn't hear them yesterday at 75 the way I had them mounted-look at my pictures.
Well, obviously I got the picture inserted. Would anyone like to tell me how to get the picture in the middle of the post? I don't want it in the signature area.

The brackets that came with my system were already drilled to the right size to mount on the mirrors. My iPod is well hide inside the windshield bag and to look at the bike all you can see is a pair of speakers. Everything else is well hid but I do take my iPod out of the windshield bag and lock in the side bags when I leave the bike.

My speaker brackets also fit my mirrors (1700) without drilling. Does anyone know if I should put an inline fuse on the hookup? It doesn't come with one but I read about people using them all the time.
I made the pattern for my windshield bag last night but I probably will not finish it until next week some time. (To many hobbies) I am sort of torn between carving a new pattern on it or making it match the chaps I made years ago.

I had this setup and it worked ok for awhile but the amp fm function quit working and the plastic speaker housings looked cheap for what you paid. The speakers were low quality.I made a homemade system with 2 spotlight housings from harbor freight and 4.5 inch coaxial spakers and an amp off ebay.Use an mp3 player with fm function and can listen to music and radio. Mounted the amp in a windshiels bag.Sound Great at any speed

Kawahog,
Will do. I hope to get some pictures soon. The blue lowers and windshield really make it stand out. Now I need to fix the brown sheepskin that my Dad gave me from his bike then the matching windshield bag for the radio. I finished the carving for it last night now I have to do the gussets and sew it up then I can mount the rest.
Here is a picture of the homemade system I made after the system you'll are talking gave up on me .Dabull here is the picture .Any info you need let me know

I finished the windshield bag last night, except for the mounting and wire holes. Tonight I will pick up some black ties and start running wires. If all goes well I should have everything up and running by tomorrow. I will try to get some pictures posted when it is finished.

This thread and a buddy of mine who has a Can Am Spyder have been a bad influence on me. Lots of nicely exectued hook-ups shown here. And the guy with the can-am wired up 4 speakers and a sub woofer and keeps rolling past my house with tunes blaring. Show off!
So after 3-4 years of back and forth, I finally ordered the rumble road set up last week. I'm still waiting for it to arrive... hopefully today. If it comes, I'll probably have to blow off work tomorrow. More important things to do!
I'll post pics when I'm all wired up.

Well, my stero came in the mail on thursday before I left for work so all night I pondered how to installit and mount it. Friday morning I started the install and it went smoothly. the company included everything I needed. I do need to get a different windshield bag to mount the amp in. I purchased the 250w system and am impressed with the sound. I did figure out that how you position the speakers will greatly affect your sound at higher speeds. down low aginst the windshield I had a hard time hearing them so I moved them up on the bars and used the mirror mounts included with the kit and pointed them directily at me. the music is very clear and enjoyable at 85mph ( just a test speed ). I am wondering if I want to purchase the subwoofer that they sell and give up the space in the trunk. I also wonder if I will be able to hear it cruising down the road.

Hey guys,
Well after much debate between a 2006 Nomad and 2003 Victory Touring Cruiser I ended up buying the Victory last September. I still like to lurk because there is a lot of good information to be found, such as the Shark system.
So after reading this thread and doing some more research I decided to buy the Shark 100W system. I got it from Amazon for $87.99 with free shipping, so it was an inexpensive (compared to other systems) way to get some music on the bike.
I installed the system last Saturday while it was raining and did not get a chance to test it out until this morning (due to rain). Overall I'm impressed with this set up. The speakers don't have the best sound without the bike running, but they sound fine doing 60 as a lot of the clarity gets lost in the bike and wind noise.
I still have to come up with a better mount for the amp as you can see from the picture. I will also probably make new brackets for the speakers so they don't crowd the speedometer so much, but for now this works just fine.
I do agree with bikermike that the speakers look cheap and will probably have to be replaced at some point, but it's easier to justify with the wife that I have to replace (upgrade) something as opposed to buying new.
