I need help wiring the bike for a trailer. I got the bike wired where the running lights and turn signals work but the brake lights don't. From what I understand the same wire for the turn signals also works the brake lights. Here's what I did:
Under the driver seat there is a gray wire on each side that goes to each signal light. I connected the green trailer wire to the right and the yellow to the left side and they work fine. I connected the brown trailer wire to the red wire that powers the running lights It also goes back to the tailight). Everything is fine but the brake lights don't work. There is a blue wire that goes to the brake light switch and it is only hot when you mash the brake should it be connected in the loop too? What do I have wrong? If I tie the blue wire into the signal lights, when I apply the brake it will blow a fuse.

Are you using some kind of a converter? I don't think you can wire the trailer directly into the bikes wiring due to the fact that the turn signal lamps on the bike are totally separate from the brake circuit. The turn signals and the brakes on the trailer use the same lamps (usually), thus the necessity for the converter.

Your right. They are powered separately. I decided to go buy another set of lights for the back and keep them separated. They will all be on with the running lights and then the brake and turn signals will be separated. That way it should be safer with more visible lights on day and night. Should I have the turn signals flashing on the outside or the brakes?

I'm not sure if it matters which is on the outside. I would probably choose to have the turn signals outside of the brake lights.

I added the other lights and now the turn signals work independently from the brake lights. It's lighted up like a christmas tree. It really helps you see it from the back with the additon of the extra two lights. I'll post some pictures of the wiring connections under the seat if anyone is interested in it. The blue wire is for the brake light, the red is for the running lights and the gray on each side are the signal lights.

The trailer pulls great. You can't tell it's back there even when braking. The next thing I need to fix is the rattling of the springs in the hangars. The front of the spring is bolted with bushings but the rear float in the bracket. I guess wrapping it with rubber will help. I had 60 psi in the tires but I lowered it to 20 so that should help too.

Here's a picture of the lights in the back. The outside lights are running lights and blinkers. The inside are running lights and brake lights.
